The only domestic chore that I positively enjoy is hanging out the washing. There is something very satisfying about arranging socks or striped shirts, and the line makes a very pleasing curve. I find my eye drawn to other peoples’ washing lines when travelling as well. Artists find washing lines appealing too; I have found them as details in all sorts of paintings.
